I can't get program X to work on my computer/phone.If you are having problems getting your computer to work with whatever program or getting it to recognize your phone, then you should read this thread or this thread or this one.
I deleted file X, do you have a copy you can give me?I've got a small collection of files from my unbranded, U.S. English iTunes V3i phone. The files in my collection are:
mma_ucp (9 icons)
You can get the archive file right here.
I also have all the original skins from my phone: Indium, Moto, Scarlet, Silver and Tux right here.

using ID3 tags.
Easier to listen to album songs in sequence.
Can adjust volume with flip closed without
Uses Java to operate, runs your battery down faster.

Can't map it to your iTunes key.
|Pros to use:||Cons against use:|
Doesn't use Java to operate, battery lasts longer.
Can map it to your iTunes key for quick access.
Program loads very quickly.
Have to make a playlist to listen to
album songs in sequence.
Program slows down as your library size increases.
Playlists must be made in the Sounds menu.
Lists all music files together with no organization.
You can use the reorder functions to change song
order but it is tedious.
Can I increase my received and dialed calls list?Currently the V3i only displays 10 received and dialed calls. You can increase that to 100 calls. Download seems "0050_0001" and "0051_0001" and change the value of both offsets "8F" and "93", to "64". If you just want 50 calls then change them to "32".
You can also choose whether or not to show repeated phone numbers. Download seem "0126_0001" and at offset "03" go to bit "5". If you check this bit, your phone will display only the most recent call to the same number. If you uncheck this bit it will display all calls to the same number. Go to bit "6", if you check this bit it will display only the most recent call from the same number. If you uncheck this bit it will display all calls received from the same number.
How do I stop these weird messages? After receiving a voicemail, checking the voicemail and then exiting my mail box I get sent a blank text message "From: " The voicemail icon on the outer display also remains.
Download seem "0032_0001" and go to offset "02" and at bit "1" check the box, at bit "4" uncheck the box.
Why aren't my recipients getting my messages?First make sure the recipient has the same language installed and perform this seem edit: seem "0032_0001" go to offset "3F" and at bit "4" check the box to enable SMS Unicode support.
How do you get those screen shots of your V3i to turn out so nice? With this great program called Msnap. You can get it right here. This newer version will take pictures of both screens. Just select "Primary" to save a picture of your main LCD screen. Click "Capture" and it will display the image line by line as it saves it.
To save a picture of your outer LCD screen select "Secondary" to capture it.
You can get the older version of this program right here. Make sure the cable is firmly seated in the phone or the program won't launch. I've found that if you want to take successive screen captures that you need to disconnect and reconnect the cable after each capture.
How do I save my lifetime call record before I mod?Seem "026b_0001" stores the lifetime call record. Merely download this seem from your phone before flashing then upload it when you are done flashing.
How come I don't have Voice Records in my Tools menu?To add the ability to record your own voice download Seem "0032_0001" and go to offset "08" and at bit "2" check the box.
Where can I find help for using Cingular service with my V3i?Cingular has many tutorials and lots of great information online.
There is also a very lengthy thread on how to configure your phone here right here. Because of the length I don't want to reproduce the instructions here, plus the fact that I don't use my phone to go online anyway, so I can't verify these instructions. I have made a Word document version of the instructions since this information is so important. But you should check the thread first since you can get more up to date information there and follow the discussion on this subject. I can't help you beyond offering you this file. Get the Word document here.
Where can I find help for using T-Mobile service with my V3i?You're in luck, T-Mobile has a webpage you can go to that will allow you to fix your phone. It allows for wireless data configuration for T-Mobile phones, it also sets up picture messaging, web connectivity and for using your phone as a modem to connect your computer to the Internet.

How do I install Java applications? With a program called Motorola Midlets Manager. You can download it right here.
Start Motorola Midlets Manager and decide whether you want to install your program to the phone's memory or to the trans-flash card. In this example I'm installing a program into the phone's memory. Click on the "Install" button and select "JAD file (recommended)..." It will take a minute to read your phone and you will see a display of all the applications installed on your phone.
A window will appear asking where you want to open your file from. Select
the jad file and click "Open".
The status of the installation will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
The list will update and you'll see your program installed at the bottom. Click the "Restart" button and you're done.
How do I use my V3i to get online with my Mac?
I haven't had the chance to test this yet (as I am not subscribed to any data
plans through my carriers Cingular and T-Mobile but maybe some day I'll try this
out.) The instructions below will allow you to make a Bluetooth
connection from your V3i to your Mac and then get online.
These instructions were originally posted here. I have modified the instructions slightly for clarity.
Click here to download the Motorola GPRS modem scripts.
Unzip the scripts, and copy the "Motorola GPRS CID1" script file to the "/Library/Modem Scripts" folder.
Set up Bluetooth in the system preferences menu. Check the box that says "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar."
On your V3i be sure that Bluetooth is on and discoverable. Press the
key, go to
"Settings" then go to "Connections" then to "Setup" and finally to "Find Me."
Answer "Yes" to turn on Bluetooth power.
On your Mac, in the Bluetooth settings select the "Devices" tab and then press the "Setup New Device" button. You can also select this item from the Bluetooth icon on your task bar.
Follow the prompts and pair the V3i with your Mac.
If you renamed your V3i's Bluetooth name you'll see your custom name here, otherwise you'll see "Motorola Phone". If you've got a lot of phones, this is a great way to tell them apart. This can be done through the V3i's Bluetooth menu setup screen.
During the pairing process, make sure to check the box labeled "Access the Internet with your phone's data connection" and select the "Use a direct, higher speed connection to reach your Internet Service Provider (GPRS, 1xRTT)" radio button. Select continue.
On the next screen, leave the username and password blank. For the GRPS CID String enter "internet2.voicestream.com", and for Modem Script, select "Motorola GPRS CID1". Click "Continue".
Open "Internet Connect," select the Bluetooth tab at the top, and click "connect."
I have also found other instructions on this setup here.
What's that musical intro on your website? That music is from the commercial that Cingular aired when the V3 first came out. The song is called "Hyped-up plus tax" by the artist Dabrye. I found it on iTunes.
Are there any other V3i websites I can learn more from? The best places to learn more about modding the V3i, including the V3, the V3c and the V3x is at the Mod My Moto and MotoModders forums. They talk in depth about all the major mobile phone operators like Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon, O2, Rogers and others. Also be sure to check out MotoX. This is the only site of its kind for distributing custom made monster packs, flashes, flexes, reflashes, and language packs. There are also many tutorials there on how to modify the V3, the V3i and the V3x. There are even iTunes capable reprogramming files there as well. "MotoX" also has his own forums right here. You can also try the Howard Forums. These are all outstanding websites with some extremely helpful people who can get you out of a jam.
This ends the "FAQ" section of this tutorial.
