Section 18: Changing the notification badges.



Note: If you replace any graphic with your own custom graphic, make sure you are saving the file as a png, and that it retains the same dimensions as the original. You can try experimenting with dimensions, but your restults may be mixed.






Attention

I will be using Fugu to upload the files in this tutorial. These instructions can be applied to any files you want to add to your iPhone, provided you already have SSH installed. If you have not installed OpenSSH, or used Fugu before, then you must read this tutorial first.



I'm not sure what the official name of this graphic is, but it appears specifically over icons like: phone, mail, text, App Store, Cydia, et cetera to let you know you have a message or and update is available. By default this icon is a red circle. You can of course change this to most anything.

Here is the badge by itself. It is located at /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/SBBadgeBG.png

Step 1.

In order to change this badge, navigate to your /private/var/stash/Themes.xxxxxx folder. Create a new folder, I called mine Blue badge.

Create a folder inside of this folder called Bundles.

Create a folder inside of this folder called com.apple.springboard.

Now place your badge graphic inside.

Test out your new theme item.
