Make and use themes with WinterBoard
Section 22: Adding the text shadow to the White Icon Labels theme
Attention
If you have not read the two prerequisite tutorials:
Using YummyFTP and OpenSSH to create themes,
and
Understanding a theme's directory structure,
then you should prior to performing any of the instructions in the following tutorial.
One of the default themes that comes with WinterBoard is called White Icon Labels. The only problem
with this theme is it does not have a shadow, so it doesn't look as good as it could. Here's an
example of the difference. While this isn't the ideal wallpaper image (as you can't read all the
names) it clearly demonstrates what the shadow looks like. I never really paid attention to the
text myself, and learned of this modification at
this thread over
at MacForums.net. I want to credit member jluce50 for posting this fix.
Step 1.
Download the file modified info.plist file
here. There is also an
original version of the plist included.
Navigate to your /Library/Themes/White Icon Labels.theme folder. You may want to rename the
original plist file before uploading the modified file.
Launch Settings and go to WinterBoard, select themes, and deselect and reselect White Icon Lables
to reload the theme with the changes.
