Make and use themes with WinterBoard
Section 8: Changing the progress wheel
Updated: August 27, 2010
Attention
If you have not read the two prerequisite tutorials:
Using YummyFTP and OpenSSH to create themes,
and
Understanding a theme's directory structure,
then you should prior to performing any of the instructions in the following tutorial.
I have not found this theme for the iPhone 4. It's only available to the iPhone 3G / 3G S. You
could however adapt this theme. Keep in mind you'd need to double the resolution of all the graphics
and give them the @2x designator.
I am going to use a theme in Cydia called Retro Loaders (you can also download it
here) to replace the stock
spinning wheel that you will see when loading a webpage, refreshing Cydia, et cetera.
There are 84 images (several images for each color), but I'm sure you could make your own loaders
using fewer images. There are three different sizes of these loaders (14 by 15, 20 by 20, and 37
by 37). They animate, and they have to look good on black and white status bars.
Step 1.
If you install this theme via Cydia, go into your iPhone's themes folder to see how it was
constructed. The folders are Retro Loaders/UIImages/ All images are placed in this folder.
Step 2.
Launch the Settings application, go into WinterBoard and check out this new loader.
Here's the before and after.
